December 2023 Update

As we approach the end of 2023 and we reminisce about what this year has been like for us we hope that your memories will be encouraged and uplifted.

For Gail and I the year has had some hard moments but most of what we remember are the things that God encouraged us through.  Two of those hard times that have turned out as moments to see God’s hand working include Dave walking through finding out he had Melanoma skin cancer and then finding that it had not spread and seemed to be entirely treatable. During that we were blessed by several couples who donated additional financial support that allowed us to receive holistic treatments not covered by insurance.

For Gail the hardest thing this year has been an ongoing experience with diverticulitis.  We are happy to report that it seems for now that she is moving beyond that to what we hope will be a full recovery.

Some other memories of this year include: 1. We had a larger number of couples go through our Preparing for Marriage counseling program than any other year we have been counseling.

2.     We were impacted by two books that we read this year.  The first was The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer and the second was Discipleship on the Edge by Darrell Johnson.  “Ruthless” challenged us to move away from the culture’s incessant push to be busy and to learn to truly rest in Christ.  And Discipleship on the Edge gave us the clearest understanding of the book of Revelation in the bible that either of us have ever read or studied.  And that book was supported by an excellent sermon series on Revelation by the pastors at the church we attend.

3.     We were stimulated to greater faith by two movies this year.  The first, The Jesus Revolution, reminded us of the spiritual revival that took place in our younger days and the second movie we mentioned last month is “After Death” which invigorated our faith in what will happen after we die.

As we celebrate the birth of Jesus this Christmas and approach the end of another calendar year, we wish you the very best and say thank you for all the ways you have participated with us in the ministry of Grace Resources.   We could not carry out this ministry without you!
